KWASU VC Reaffirms Commitment to Innovative Healthcare Initiatives
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has reiterated the institution’s commitment to innovative healthcare initiatives aimed at responding to the evolving healthcare needs of society.
Professor Jimoh made this known during the 3rd graduation ceremony and the inauguration of the 4th set of executive trainees of the Centre for Complementary and Alternative Therapy (CCAT), held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the Centre serves as a vital bridge between conventional medical practice and complementary and alternative therapies, producing skilled manpower equipped with evidence-based knowledge to promote wellness and holistic healthcare delivery.
He congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their programme and formally welcomed the incoming 4th cohort, expressing confidence that they would become transformative ambassadors of the University.
Earlier, the Board Chairman, Centre for Complementary and Alternative Therapy, Professor Emmanuel Ajani, represented by Professor Olayiwola Olorisade, disclosed that the 3rd graduating set comprised 55 trainees who are fully equipped to provide alternative health therapies.
Professor Ajani added that, in view of the successes recorded by the Ilorin office of the Centre, the Board was proposing the establishment of additional centres in Malete and other KWASU campuses, alongside plans to forge collaborations with relevant bodies and agencies.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Centre, Mallam Abdurrauf Yusuf, stated that beyond its mandate of research and training in complementary and alternative medicine, the Centre was also involved in the production of spices, honey, and other health-promoting products aimed at supporting healthy living.
