The Lagos State University (LASU) Centre for Afro-Brazilian Studies (LASUCAS) has announced admissions into its various Portuguese programmes for the upcoming academic session. These programmes aim to provide students with proficiency in the Portuguese language and a deep understanding of Brazilian culture.

1. CELPE-BRAS Training Programme for Scholarship in Brazil

The Government of Brazil offers scholarships to Nigerian students across various disciplines. To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must pass the CELPE-Bras examination, which tests proficiency in the Portuguese language. The training programme is designed to prepare candidates for both undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships.

2. Diploma in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies

This diploma course qualifies students for admission into the Degree Course in Portuguese/English at LASU.

- Admission Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of four credits, including English language, in the G.C.E. ordinary level or its equivalent.

- Duration:The course is part-time and spans four semesters or two academic sessions.

3. Certificate in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies

Designed for individuals intending to travel to Lusophone countries for study, trade, news coverage, or tourism.

- Admission Requirements: Candidates must possess the WASC or GCE O-Level with credits in three subjects, including English.

- Duration: A two-module, six-month part-time programme.

4. Proficiency Certificate in Yoruba for Non-Native Speakers

This course is tailored to train individuals interested in studying Yorùbá language, literature, culture, and communication techniques.

- Admission Requirements: Minimum of secondary school certificate for foreigners and three credits in WAEC or NECO for Nigerians.

- Duration: Full-time for eight weeks.

Interested candidates can obtain the application form from the LASU website upon payment of N10,000. For the Proficiency Certificate in Yoruba for foreigners, the application fee is $50.
