Lagos State University (LASU) has successfully concluded a one-day in-house training program for its Assistant Registrars and Administrative Officers, with a strong call for participants to uphold discipline, focus, and commitment to the institution's development.

The training, held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Senate Chamber of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Ojo campus, was aimed at enhancing service delivery and equipping administrative officers with modern best practices. The Registrar of LASU, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, while addressing the attendees, emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism, urging them to avoid actions that could hinder their career growth.

Mr. Fanu reaffirmed the university management’s dedication to excellence, noting that LASU's core values are deeply rooted in teaching, research, and community service. He also highlighted the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello’s commitment to staff welfare, describing it as central to the university’s vision. He encouraged participants to be diligent, meticulous in record-keeping, pursue personal development, embrace mentorship, and familiarize themselves with the conditions of service.

Additionally, he advised the officers to actively engage in university activities, safeguard their jobs, and steer clear of any misconduct. He also commended the Vice-Chancellor for her consistent efforts toward staff promotion and welfare.

The training commenced with a welcome address by the Director of Staff Welfare, Training, and Development (DSWT&D), Mr. Akinwunmi Lewis, who lauded the Registrar for approving the initiative. He underscored the importance of aligning the training objectives with LASU's core values to ensure that participants remain impactful in their roles.

The program featured presentations from notable resource persons, including Mr. Oladele Olorunfunmi, Deputy Registrar, Non-Academic Staff Division, who spoke on "Understanding University Policies and Governance Structures"; Mrs. Olajumoke Boyejo, Deputy Registrar, Legal Affairs Division, who discussed "Effects of Discipline on Effective Service and Successful Administrative Careers"; and Mr. Akinwunmi Lewis, who addressed "Ethics and University Administration."

The training concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, followed by closing remarks and a vote of thanks from Mrs. Yewande Odeyemi, Deputy Registrar, Training, DSWT&D. The session was moderated and coordinated by Mrs. Aisha Olukoya-Shuara, Deputy Registrar, Staff Welfare, DSWT&D.
