LASU Student, Malik Olabiyi, Emerges First Runner-Up in Don Etiebet Award for Best Computer Science Project

A final-year student of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Malik Olalekan OLABIYI, from the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, has emerged First Runner-Up in the prestigious Don Etiebet Award for Best Computer Science Project in Lagos State for the Year 2025.

Mr. Olabiyi’s project, titled “Development of an AI-Driven Shared Delivery App for an Efficient and Cost-Effective Logistics System,” was supervised by Dr. Adam ZUBAIR. The project impressed the panel of judges with its innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence to enhance logistics efficiency and minimize delivery costs—an approach that reflects both creativity and strong real-world applicability.

The award was presented on Thursday, 30th October 2025, during the Annual IT Summit of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). The Don Etiebet Award is one of the most competitive and respected honours in the Nigerian technology space, designed to recognise exceptional undergraduate research projects in Computer Science across universities nationwide.

In recognition of the feat, the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology commended Mr. Olabiyi for bringing pride to the University. The Faculty also extended profound appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni, NPOM, whose visionary leadership, motivation, and support continue to nurture a culture of innovation, excellence, and competitiveness among LASU students.
