A delegation from McPherson University’s College of Postgraduate Studies recently paid an official visit to Babcock University’s College of Postgraduate Studies to explore strategies for strengthening and expanding its postgraduate programmes.

The visiting team was led by the Acting Dean, Dr. Michael Osho, and included the College Secretary, Mrs. Olanike Adesida, and Mr. Ehi Emhonyon. They were warmly received by Babcock University’s Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Olutayo S. Shokunbi, alongside Deputy Provost Professor Emmanuel Ajike, College Secretary and Deputy Registrar Dr. T. J. Owolabi, Exams Officer (Postgraduate) Dr. Adeleye Olufemi, and Principal Assistant Registrar Mrs. Joy Kelvin-Ogbeide.
The visit provided McPherson University an opportunity to study the structure, operational processes, and management practices of Babcock University’s postgraduate school. The interaction was designed to support McPherson University’s ongoing efforts to enhance and expand its own postgraduate offerings, enabling learning through exposure to best practices in academic administration.

Professor Shokunbi emphasized Babcock University’s commitment to sharing insights gained from its growth journey, noting that the institution had benefitted from guidance by established universities during its formative years. “We are happy to share our experience and hope it will support the development of postgraduate education elsewhere,” he said.
Dr. Osho expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the openness of the Babcock postgraduate leadership, highlighting the value of the knowledge shared in informing McPherson University’s plans for postgraduate programme expansion.
The visit also fostered closer ties between both institutions, creating a platform for ongoing dialogue, collaboration, and academic support. Both teams agreed that the engagement would contribute to a deeper understanding of effective postgraduate management and administration.
As McPherson University moves forward with expanding its postgraduate portfolio, lessons learned from the visit are expected to guide programme development and institutional reforms aimed at enhancing the quality, competitiveness, and impact of its postgraduate education.
