The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has advocated for the inclusion of Astronomy studies in the curricula of Nigerian universities to foster technological progress.
Bonaventure Okere, the director of the Centre for Basic Space Science and Astronomy (CBSSA) at NASRDA, emphasized the importance of incorporating astronomy into university programs during an interview in Abuja.

Okere noted that only a few universities in Nigeria currently offer astronomy studies, leading graduates in the field to seek employment opportunities abroad.
