NELFUND Conducts Extensive Sensitization Program at Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) held a robust sensitization program at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, aimed at educating the university community about the availability and application process of interest-free loans for tertiary education.
The initiative is part of NELFUND's ongoing national campaign to boost awareness, clarify application processes, and encourage participation in the student loan scheme, particularly in regions with traditionally lower uptake, such as the South-South geopolitical zone.
During the detailed session, NELFUND representatives engaged with students, parents, and staff, focusing on four core areas:
Understanding the student loan scheme and its purpose.
Detailed eligibility criteria for applicants.
Step-by-step application guidelines and guidance.
Flexibility and interest-free payment terms for tuition and living expenses.
The program utilized direct engagement tactics to explain how the fund aims to remove financial barriers that often lead to stress, poor performance, and dropout risks among low-income students.
The management of FPOG emphasized its institutional focus on ameliorating the financial constraints faced by students, recognizing such constraints as a major hindrance to accessing quality education and resources.
"With Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, dreams and aspirations for a better education is possible," stated Anthony Ogbe, the Public Relations Officer for the institution, reiterating the polytechnic's commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment for all students.
The successful sensitization program marked a collaborative effort between NELFUND and FPOG to empower students and enhance access to quality, hands-on education in the region.
