New Federal University Teaching Hospital Proposed in Delta State

The House of Representatives has passed through the second reading stage a bill seeking to establish the Federal University Teaching Hospital Erawhe-Owhe in Delta State. Sponsored by Hon. Ajirioghene Jonathan Ukodhiko, representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency of Delta State, the proposed legislation aims to make healthcare delivery more efficient, effective, and people-oriented.

In his presentation, Hon. Ukodhiko highlighted the importance of quality healthcare as a fundamental human right, emphasizing the need for accessible medical facilities to ensure citizens receive adequate healthcare services. He noted that the lack of such facilities in the region has led to challenges in accessing medical treatments, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bill received overwhelming support from members of the House and was approved for further legislative action by the House Committee on Health Institutions.
