In their statement, “A Call to Action by Nigerian Students: Inactive Ministers and the Demand for Resignation,” endorsed by Senate President Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, NANS stressed the critical need for effective leadership to tackle the pressing power supply issue. The students have decried the reduction in electricity since Adelabu’s tenure began, noting its adverse effects on commerce, everyday life, and the country’s advancement.

NANS has expressed concern over Adelabu’s appointment, given his lack of sector-specific experience, despite his financial background. The students have denounced the perceived stagnation and complacency among cabinet ministers, urging immediate action to address the persistent power shortfall.

The resignation demand is not limited to Adelabu; NANS is calling for accountability and proficiency in various ministerial roles. The association has highlighted the role of uninterrupted electricity in stimulating economic development, enticing foreign investments, and generating employment opportunities.

Beyond economic concerns, NANS has pointed out the detrimental effects of the power issue on education, especially in today’s digital era. The electricity deficit significantly hinders students’ access to online educational resources and disrupts university functions, adding to the urgency of the matter.

NANS has clarified that their call for resignations stems from a sincere wish to witness Nigeria’s success under capable governance, not from personal grievances. The students have appealed to the ministers to put the country’s well-being before their personal gains and political goals.

With the resignation deadline approaching, NANS stands firm in their commitment to hold officials accountable. The student body asserts that only through skilled and responsible governance can Nigeria surmount its present obstacles and realize its potential.
