Adegoke Azeezah, the overall best-graduating student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, recently shared insights into her academic journey and aspirations in an exclusive interview. Graduating with a First Class in Pharmacology and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.90, Azeezah credits her success to a solid foundation laid during her secondary education at Angels Height College, Ayete Ibarapa North, Oyo State.

Her secondary education equipped her with a strong science curriculum and instilled a robust work ethic, which prepared her for the challenges of higher education. This background, combined with her passion for medicine, led her to pursue pharmacology at OOU, drawn by the university's reputable program and distinguished faculty.

Azeezah's journey to academic excellence was marked by disciplined study habits, active participation in class discussions, and utilization of available resources such as libraries and mentorship. Despite facing financial constraints, she applied for scholarships and engaged in a small business venture to support her education.

Her final-year project, titled 'Exploring the Effect of Gonadotropin and Gonadal Hormones as Potential Therapeutic Targets in Catamenial Epilepsy,' unveiled significant insights into hormonal influences on seizure activity. These findings offer promising avenues for therapeutic interventions in catamenial epilepsy, contributing to advancements in the treatment of this condition.

While Azeezah's social life was limited, she dedicated her time to activities aligned with her academic and career interests. Reflecting on her university experience, she highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements and increased support for student welfare programs.

Looking ahead, Azeezah plans to leverage her pharmacological expertise to contribute to research, drug regulation, and public health awareness in Nigeria. She advocates for stringent regulations to combat the proliferation of counterfeit drugs and proposes measures to address medication affordability issues.
