The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Professor Clement Adebooye, has issued a stern warning to new students about the severe consequences of engaging in cultism and other social vices that could jeopardize their studentship. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony for part-time degree students at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium in Osogbo, he emphasized the university's unwavering stance on maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviors.

Professor Adebooye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Research Innovation, and Partnerships, Professor Adetunji Kehinde, urged the new intakes to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits and professional development. He highlighted the importance of adhering to the university's core values and the strict regulations governing student conduct.

“Osun State University upholds the highest standards of discipline,” Professor Adebooye stated. “Any student found engaging in negative vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, or other forms of misconduct will face severe disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from the University. We take immense pride in our zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that tarnishes the reputation of this esteemed institution.”

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the unique position of part-time students, many of whom are mature individuals balancing various responsibilities. He expressed confidence that they would exemplify good behavior and remain focused on their academic objectives.

In a bid to cater to the evolving educational needs of society, Professor Adebooye announced the introduction of a new top-up program, allowing holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND) to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in just 24 months. This initiative spans six semesters and is available in various disciplines, including Accounting, Building, and Sociology.
