Pantami Foundation Announces Training for 200 Bauchi Youths in Phone Repairs, AI and Cybersecurity.
The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation (PIP Foundation), led by Professor Isa Ali Pantami , has announced a new skills-development programme that will train 200 youths from Bauchi State in mobile phone repairs, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. The initiative is aimed at empowering young people with practical, future-oriented skills that enhance self-reliance and competitiveness in an increasingly digital world.
The training programme forms part of the Foundation’s wider commitment to training 10,000 youths across Gombe and neighbouring states in the North East. Participants will be provided with start-up kits and post-training support to enable them to establish their own small-scale enterprises, strengthening job creation efforts and closing the region’s widening skills gap.
Earlier in August 2025, the Foundation successfully trained an initial group of 250 young people from Gombe State through a three-week, hands-on training in phone repairs, AI, and cybersecurity. The beneficiaries were empowered with professional toolkits and equipment to consolidate the skills acquired in order to start generating income.
One of the beneficiaries, Ibrahim Khalil, a young university student based in Dawaki, described the programme as transformative. “The trainers were friendly and detailed. I learnt a lot from the training. People in my neighbourhood now come to me for basic repairs like screen fixing and earpiece replacements, which fetch me some income. I hope to further improve my skills and open a workshop in the future,” he said.
Speaking on the significance of the programme, Prof. Pantami reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to building a skilled, technologically-driven workforce across the region. “We have a very youthful population that must be trained in line with today’s realities. This programme is our contribution to grooming a society where skills take centre stage, creating jobs and boosting productivity, just as we have seen in nations like Japan, Taiwan, China, Singapore and recently even India,” he stated.
The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation continues to champion the shift towards a skills-based economy, empowering youths with competencies that position them for growth, innovation, and meaningful participation in the global digital marketplace.
