Parents Decry 2025/2026 Fee Hike at David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences

Parents and guardians of students at the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Ebonyi State, have voiced strong concerns over a sharp increase in tuition fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The new fee structure shows significant hikes — from ₦1.3 million to ₦1.5 million (a 42.86% increase) for some programmes, and from 730,000 to ₦1.5 million (a 43.84% increase) for others.

Many parents describe the revised charges as “outrageous” and “unaffordable,” citing the prevailing economic hardship across the country. They also questioned why a federal university, traditionally expected to be more affordable, is charging fees comparable to or higher than some private institutions.
