The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has urged the newly elected executive officers of the Students Union to lead with integrity and fairness. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, September 5, 2024, Professor Jimoh emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration and unity while prioritizing transparency.

He highlighted Kwara State University’s reputation as one of the most sought-after institutions in Nigeria, known for its uninterrupted and stable academic calendar. He encouraged the new executives to be law-abiding and maintain the peace enjoyed on campus.

Professor Jimoh also commended the outgoing Students Union President, Soliu Kolapo, and his team for their outstanding leadership and dedication to the university community.

In his address, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Abdulrauf Ambali, advised the incoming executives to emulate their predecessors by working with the management to propel the institution to greater heights.

The election of executives into the 8th assembly of the Students Union saw Ahmed Ayomide Afolabi emerge as the 9th Senate President, with Sherif Olamide Oyelola as the Deputy Senate President. Oluwabusayomi Deborah Olajubu was elected as the Senate Clerk, and Sanni Uzair emerged as the Senate Chief Whip.

The ceremony featured the official handover to the incoming team and the inauguration of the new parliamentarians. A highlight of the event was the presentation of a congratulatory plaque to the Vice-Chancellor by Shuaib Ishaq Yahaya, the Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Justice Abdulraheem Ahmed Sayi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin.
