Redeemer’s University Marks 20th Anniversary and 17th Convocation with Record-Breaking Achievements

A total of 1,336 graduates received their degrees, comprising 185 First Class Honours, 662 Second Class Upper, 410 Second Class Lower, and 79 Third Class degrees.
The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Joel Durugbo from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student with a perfect 5.0 CGPA, a historic feat in the university’s record.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele (ffan, fffps), commended the graduating students and staff for their resilience and commitment to excellence, describing the faculty as “the invisible architects of Redeemer’s University’s success.”

Distinguished guests, including representatives of the NUC Executive Secretary and the Governor of Osun State, lauded the university’s leadership in research, innovation, and national development.
Redeemer’s University also celebrated its outstanding performance in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, where it emerged 2nd in Nigeria and 1st in Africa for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), alongside high placements across several Sustainable Development Goals.

The ceremony reflected two decades of academic excellence, innovation, and global recognition, affirming Redeemer’s University’s place among the leading institutions shaping the future of higher education in Africa.
