Redeemer’s University Pro-Chancellor, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, Tours Campus on Inaugural Visit

Professor Toyin Ogundipe, the newly appointed Governing Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, made a brief working visit to key locations on the university's campus during his inaugural tour.

Professor Toyin Ogundipe, the newly appointed Governing Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, made a brief working visit to key locations on the university's campus during his inaugural tour. Accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, and the university's management team, Professor Ogundipe's visit highlighted strategic areas central to Redeemer’s academic and research vision.

During the tour, Professor Ogundipe inspected the university’s renowned African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), a state-of-the-art research hub recognized across the continent for its efforts in combating and eradicating some of the world's most dangerous diseases. The centre, known for its leading role in the prevention, detection, and containment of infectious diseases, has recently expanded its scope to form the Institute of Genomics and Global Health.

This newly established institute houses several specialized research centers, including the International Centre of Excellence for Malaria Research, the Centre for One Health and Zoonotic Diseases Research and Surveillance, the Centre for Data Science and Virtual Reality, and the Centre for Human Genome. Together, these centers enhance Redeemer's global standing as a powerhouse in public health, genomics, and workforce training.

Professor Ogundipe, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, expressed enthusiasm for the university’s cutting-edge research capabilities and the role it plays in advancing knowledge in the field of genomics and global health.
