Sahara Group's inaugural awards were announced, aiming to inspire purposeful young Africans committed to making a difference.
The Sahara Scholar Award was introduced at UNILAG, with David Oluwatomiwa Akanmu emerging as the best graduating student with a perfect CGPA of 5.0. Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka expressed delight at the opportunity to recognize and reward outstanding performance, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent.

The Sahara Scholar Award (UNILAG Pilot) includes N1 million each for exceptional students in various departments and a $36,000 Making A Difference (MAD) Grant for three lecturers; both categories run for 10 years. Notable awards include the Dr. Folashodun Shonubi Prize for Best graduating student in Mechanical Engineering and the Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka Prize for Best graduating student in Economics.
