Social scientists provide alternative solutions to nation’s problems, says FULafia VC prof. Abdul Rahman
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has praised the roles being played by social scientists in educating the populace and providing solutions to societal problems.
According to Abdul Rahman, social scientists should, therefore, be commended for “identifying and helping to implement credible alternative solutions to our nation’s economic, social and political problems.”

Abdul Rahman spoke at the fourth Annual National Conference of the Faculty of Social Sciences of FULafia.
The event was held at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent Site Campus of the University.
He commended the faculty for sustaining the annual conference culture, saying that by hosting the conference, annually,the faculty was projecting the good image of the University.
He encouraged participants to come up with useful recommendations that would guide policymakers to make informed decision.

In their separate presentations at the event, both the keynote and lead speakers, Dr Nawani Aboki and Prof. Christopher Ogbogbo, respectively, identified poverty, politics, thuggery, corruption, and unemployment as some of the banes of the nation’s development.
In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, represented by Alhaji Musa Dangana, the Chairman of Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, congratulated the faculty for organising the conference, encouraging them to use the outcomes of the conference for solving social and national problems.
Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, FULafia, Prof. Abdullahi D. Jibrin, thanked Senator Al-Makura and all the dignitaries for attending the event.
He expressed the faculty's appreciation to the vice-chancellor for his support towards the successful hosting of the conference.
