Dr. (Mrs.) Owen D. Omogiafo  is the President and Group CEO of Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp), Nigeria’s largest listed diversified conglomerate with strategic investments in the Hospitality, Oil & Gas, and Power sectors. Transcorp owns the iconic Transcorp Hilton Abuja and, through its power plants in Delta State and Rivers State, accounts for about 18% of Nigeria’s power generation capacity. Before assuming the role of President/Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, Owen served as the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc, where she spearheaded the $132m renovation of the Transcorp Hilton Abuja. Owen holds the distinction of being the first female and youngest person to hold these positions.

 

A multi-award-winning professional, Owen boasts over two decades of experience in Organizational Development, Human Capital Management, Financial Services, Change Management, Hospitality, Energy, Business Transformation, and Strategy. Her illustrious career includes roles such as Director of Resources at Heirs Holdings Limited, a Pan-African investment company; HR Advisor to the Group Managing Director at the United Bank for Africa Plc; and an Organization and Human Performance Consultant at Accenture, specializing in Change Management.

She holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Sociology & Anthropology from the University of Benin, an M.Sc. in Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun. Owen is also an alumna of the Lagos Business School and IESE Business School in Spain.

 

Owen is affiliated with professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, UK; she is a certified Change Manager with the Prosci Institute, USA, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Nigeria, as well as the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. She serves on the boards of Afriland Properties Ltd, Transcorp Power Ltd, TransAfam Power Ltd, Transcorp Hotels Plc, and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. Additionally, she sits on the Advisory Board of Heirs Academy and holds the position of Vice President of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association.

 

Recognized as one of Africa's top 100 women in leadership and one of the 100 most influential African women, Owen received the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in May 2023 for her outstanding contributions to the nation. In June 2023, she was honoured the Businesswoman of the Year at the All Africa Business Leaders Award (AABLA). Owen is married with 3 children.
