University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) recently hosted the Aiguobasinmwan Movement Worldwide on a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Idia N. Ize-Iyamu.

The socio-cultural body, which brings together members across the ethnic groups of Edo State, was led by its President, Mr. Iyamu Osati Cuture. During the visit, the delegation congratulated Prof. Ize-Iyamu on her appointment as CMD and presented observations on key issues they considered critical to advancing healthcare delivery in the state.

In her remarks, Prof. Ize-Iyamu expressed deep appreciation for the solidarity and encouragement shown by the movement, assuring them of UBTH’s commitment to continuous improvement. She highlighted that the hospital, established more than five decades ago when Edo State’s population was much smaller, is currently evolving and restructuring to align with today’s demands.

Addressing infrastructural development, the CMD acknowledged the Edo State Government under Governor Monday Okpebholo for its recent interventions in the health sector. She particularly lauded the approval of a ₦2.5 billion project for the construction of a modern Paediatric Centre in UBTH, describing it as a groundbreaking step that will significantly transform paediatric healthcare services for children across Edo State and beyond.
