UDUS MSSN Holds Training on Islamic Jurisprudence, urges Modesty in Communication

The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS Chapter), has urged students to embrace modesty in communication

Speaking on July 12, 2025, during a lecture series held at Jibril Aminu Masjid and themed "Al Qowaa’id-ul Fiqh’iyyah: Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence", Ustaz Olayiwola Ridwanullah, a final-year Law student and Amir of the National Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS-UDUS Chapter), emphasized the importance of speaking humbly and being mindful of tone and content, avoiding harsh or offensive language.

Speaking with our correspondent about what he learned, Yusuf Abdulqudus, a 300-level student from the Department of Islamic Studies, described the lecture as an enlightening session. He said he now understands the importance of beginning written works with Bismillah and speeches with Hamdan lillahi.

"It's backed by evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah," he explained.

Similarly, Isiaka Abdulqudus, a 300-level Accounting student currently serving as the association's Chief Kadim, cited the Prophet’s words: “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim, both male and female,” & emphasized the need for modesty, noting that its absence can lead to mistakes even in basic acts.
