UDUS Students Raise Concern Over ‘F’ Grade Error in GST Results Before Official Release

Some students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) have raised concern over their academic portals showing an F grade in General Studies (GST 103), even though the result has yet to be officially released.

Daud Jamiu, one of the affected students, told the Digest Press that he wanted to check one of his departmental results that was released, but to his surprise, he saw an F grade in GST 103 instead.

“During my first year (2023/2024), I failed the course and added it up with this current session (2024/2025). But to my surprise, my portal is already showing an F grade again in GST, which has not even been released. I don’t know what might have happened to the portal,” he told Digest Press.

Another student, Habeeb Akinade, a 300-level Applied Chemistry student, also expressed his frustration, saying he also suddenly saw F grade on his portal.

“I felt like crying when I first saw it. I ran to the ICT centre the following day but was directed back to my Faculty Examination Officer for rectification. Till now, nothing has been done. It is still showing F,” he said.

Habeeb further explained that he had visited several offices, like the Management Information System (MIS) unit, ICT centre, and Faculty Examination Officer, without getting any solution to rectify the problem.

Reacting to the issue, Mallam Ahmed Isah Chafe, Director of MIS, said his office had not received any formal complaint.

“If there is anyone that had such a complaint, they should do so immediately by writing a letter and attached the photocopied of the result sheet along for proper steps to be taken." he said.

He added that the issue might be due to a system error, which would be investigated and rectified once details of the affected students are provided.
