The Registrar of the University of Delta, Agbor, Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, has urged non-teaching staff to prioritize career growth and refrain from making destructive comments or submitting baseless petitions that could create tension within the Institution.
Barr. Omagbemi made the remarks during the January monthly training for Administrative, Executive, and Secretarial staff. He expressed concern over some staff circulating unverified information under the guise of “Concerned Staff” and emphasized that management would sanction anyone involved in such practices.
“Your communication should be accounted for. Channel complaints through the proper channels rather than releasing destructive statements,” he advised, urging staff to familiarize themselves with University regulations.
The guest lecturer, Mr. Meshack Iwekaogwu, delivered a session titled “Communication: Mastering the Skills of Clear and Concise Communication to Reduce Misunderstanding and Errors.” His lecture covered principles of clear communication, types of workplace communication, common barriers, and strategies to improve understanding and reduce errors.
The monthly staff training is aimed at refreshing administrative knowledge, equipping non-teaching staff with updated practices, and enhancing their effectiveness in handling official assignments.
