The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is gearing up to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its Green Hub initiative with a Sustainability Race event.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to commemorate the one-year anniversary of its Green Hub initiative with a Sustainability Race aimed at showcasing the institution's commitment to environmental sustainability. Launched over a year ago, the Environmental Sustainability Challenge aimed to Track, Collect, and Recycle 1.5 million PET bottles on campus, a target that has been successfully achieved within approximately 14 months of its inception.

In celebration of this milestone and the anniversary of the UNILAG Green Hub, the university community is invited to participate in the UNILAG Sustainability RACE: Showcasing Our Efforts and Commitment to Do More. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, with various activities planned throughout the day.

The event will kick off with an Environmental Celebrity Walk and Campus Cleanup at the Senate House, starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to join hands in cleaning up the campus environment while promoting awareness about environmental conservation.

Following the cleanup, the event will transition to the Indoor Hall at the Sports Centre for the 2nd Recycling Bazaar, starting at 10:00 a.m. Here, attendees can engage in recycling activities and learn more about sustainable waste management practices.

The day will conclude with a Circular Entertainment Session at the Indoor Hall, starting at 10:30 a.m., where participants can enjoy entertainment while reflecting on the importance of sustainability.
