UNILORIN Releases Official Guide for Student Email Activation and Use
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has issued a comprehensive guide for students on the activation and proper use of their official institutional email addresses, a mandatory requirement for accessing academic and administrative communications.

The university-student email, which ends with @students.unilorin.edu.ng, serves as the primary channel for course registration updates, academic notices, official announcements, and other critical information.
Generation of Student Email Address
UNILORIN student email addresses are generated directly from students’ matriculation numbers. Students are required to replace the slash (/) in their matric number with a hyphen (-) and append the official domain.

Example:
Matric Number: 25/31QQ023
Student Email: 25-31QQ023@students.unilorin.edu.ng
Default Login Passwords by Academic Level
Students are to log in using the default password assigned to their current academic level:
- 100 Level: stdunilorin$2026
- 200 Level: stdunilorin$2025
- 300 Level: stdunilorin$2022
- 400 Level and Above: stdunilorin$2021
Students are required to change the default password immediately after their first login for security reasons.
Mobile Email Setup (Android and iOS)
To add the UNILORIN student email to a mobile device:
- Open the Gmail app or any preferred email application
- Tap the profile picture or menu icon
- Select “Add another account”
- Choose Google as the account type
- Enter the full student email address
- Input the default password based on academic level
- Accept Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Allow the account to sync
Web-Based Access
Students may also access their email through a web browser by visiting:
https://mail.students.unilorin.edu.ng
Login requires the student email address and default password, after which a password change prompt will appear.
Password and Account Security Guidelines
Students are advised to:
- Create strong passwords using a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols
- Keep login credentials confidential
- Avoid using easily identifiable personal details
- Monitor their inbox regularly for official communications

The university reiterates that the UNILORIN student email remains the official and mandatory communication channel for all academic and administrative engagements.
