In a momentous event that took place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Alumni Association successfully held its National Convention at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium on the university's main campus. The convention, held in accordance with the association's Constitution, aimed to elect new officers to lead the association for the next two years.

Reflecting on the event, Dr. Toyin Olaniyan, Chairman of the Caretaker and Transition Committee, remarked on the significance of the convention as a homecoming for alumni, allowing them to revisit the place where they earned their degrees and certificates years ago. Themed "The Role of Alumni in the Development of the University," the convention served as a platform for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater and discuss their collective contribution to its growth.

A total of 15 candidates contested for various leadership positions within the association, with 263 registered and eligible voters participating in the election process. The convention commenced at 11 am, with candidates presenting their visions for the future of the association and engaging in dialogue with fellow alumni.

To accommodate alumni traveling from distant locations, the election and voting process began at 2:30 pm and concluded promptly by 4:00 pm.
