UNIUYO Alumni Plans Homecoming, Set to Award Scholarship to Best Graduating Students

The University of Uyo Alumni Association is set to host its homecoming celebration at the University Campus in a date to be announced soon.
The event which is expected to bring together graduates of the institution from within and outside the Country, will feature a Distinguished Alumni lecture and awards, as well as the swearing in of the new National Executive Council, NEC of the Alumni.
These were some of the decisions of the meeting of National Executive Council (NEC) of the UNIUYO Alumni held, Friday 26th, July, 2024 at the Alumni Centre, presided over by the President, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke.
To this end , a 12 member Homecoming Planning Committee was set up, with the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Sir. Charles Udoh, an Alumnus of the University as Chairman.
Other members of the Planning Committee include: Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, Registrar, University of Uyo (Vice Chairman), Dr.Godwin Akpan (Secretary)
Comrade Ini Ememobong (Member)
Mr. Amos Etuk, Chairman, NUJ, Aks. (Member)
Dr. Imo Ita Imo (Member) and
Comrade Uduak Akai (Member),Dr.Niyi Ibietan and Mr. Nkekere Udom (member).

Also in the Committee are; Mr. Michael Nwabuchi, CEO of Ibom Metals (Member), Comrade Idongesit Idemudo (Member) Comrade Etimbuk Idiong (Member), all past Presidents of UNIUYO Alumni are to serve as Advisers.
NEC also approved interfaculty Football Tournament for UNIUYO students, and has constituted a Planning Committee with former Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, Mr. Vincent Enyeama as Chairman, while Mr. Barry Eka is the Vice Chairma

The inauguration of the two Committees by the President of UNIUYO Alumni Association, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, will hold on Friday, 9th August 2024 by 2pm at Alumni Center.
Moreso, the NEC has approved the setting up of a National Electoral Committee, for electoral activities that will usher in a new government. Members of the ELECO are:

Also, the Alumni has formally requested for the list of best graduating students from the university for the UNIUYO Alumni Scholarship Awards of Excellence.
The NEC appreciated Pastor Umo Eno on the appointment of a former President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Ide Owodiong, as Board Chairman, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP). While congratulating Mr. Owodiong, NEC expressed optimism that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment.
