University of Abuja Partners with Continental Hotels Group to Enhance Tourism and Hospitality Programme
The University of Abuja has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Continental Hotels Group, a leading hospitality company in Nigeria, to collaborate on curriculum development, student engagement, industrial attachment, and employment opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality programme.
The MoU was signed between the University of Abuja's Department of Tourism and Hospitality and 11 Hospitality Limited (owners and operators of Lagos Continental Hotel) and Capital Hotel PLC (owners and operators of Abuja Continental Hotel).
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap in the industry by providing students with practical skills and exposure to real-world hospitality and tourism management.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that it will unlock enormous prospects in the programme.
The Tourism and Hospitality programme was introduced during the 2023/2024 academic session and currently has a student population of 114.
The MoU is valid for a period of five years, providing a framework for long-term collaboration between the University and Continental Hotels Group.
The partnership is expected to provide students with opportunities for industrial attachment, career progression sessions, and employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The collaboration will also enable the University to develop a curriculum that meets industry standards and requirements.
