Nnamdi Azikiwe University: A Legacy of Accessible and Practical Education

Established in 1991 from the former Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH), which was founded in 1980, Nnamdi Azikiwe University initially operated across multiple campuses. Following the creation of Anambra and Enugu States, the Awka and Nnewi campuses of ASUTECH were integrated into the new university under Anambra State Edict No. 5. The institution was subsequently taken over by the Federal Government through Decree No. 34 in 1992.

The university's enabling law grants the Senate authority to manage the organization and control of its various academic units, oversee courses and examinations, and award degrees and other qualifications.
