UNIZIK Alumni Association Awka Chapter Holds Symposium and Business Expo

The Awka branch of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association recently organized a one-day symposium and Business Expo in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Youth. The event, held at the ASUU secretariat, UNIZIK, was themed "Alumni and You." The focal point of the gathering was to facilitate member reunions, interactions, and strengthen bonds with influential figures, all aimed at enhancing educational standards through knowledge exchange.

The Chapter Chairman, Dr. Chinedu Nwankwo, emphasized the significance of Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a cornerstone of knowledge and wisdom. He expressed concern about the declining educational opportunities for youth due to high costs and inadequate facilities. Dr. Nwankwo outlined the chapter's commitment to contribute to the alma mater's growth, urging members and guests to support ongoing projects.

Professor Charles Esimone, the University Vice-Chancellor, commended the theme and the surge of alumni activities. He stressed the importance of addressing youth employment challenges through collaboration with the Ministry of Youths and the University's Directorate of Business Venture.

Keynote speaker Prof. Emeka Ezeonu, the immediate past National President of the UNIZIK Alumni Association, commended the Chapter for the initiative. Represented by ASUU Chairman Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji, Prof. Ezeonu highlighted the significance of alumni associations, offering lifetime membership for graduates to maintain connections with peers and their alma mater.

Prof. Ezeonu listed ways alumni can support the university, including mentoring, career support, and philanthropy. The event featured the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities, including Mr. Chijioke Nwajioha, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja, Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili, Mr. Arnold Ekweoba, Dr. Emeka Ezenekwe, Dr. Iyke Umeh, and others. Traditional rulers, His Majesty Igwe Engr. S.I Okafor and His Majesty Igwe Pius Omachuonu, graced the occasion, highlighting the significance of the UNIZIK Alumni Association in the community.
