Anambra Youth Commander Sparks Transformation: Long-Neglected UNIZIK SUG Secretariat Set for Overhaul After 18-Year Dormancy
In a long-awaited turn of events, relief has finally arrived for the dilapidated Student Union Government (SUG) complex at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Giant House, which had suffered neglect for eighteen years. The Anambra Youth Commander and Chairman/CEO of Pool King Global Investment Limited, Hon. Gabriel Chukwunwendu, has taken the bold step of commencing the much-needed renovation of the structure.
The building, housing offices for SUG executives, including the Legislative arm, had been left abandoned, rendering it inaccessible for meetings and proceedings by the student union body. Last week, on the invitation of the UNIZIK SUG President, Hon. Chukwunwendu visited the facility and, upon witnessing the extensive infrastructural decay, promptly pledged to initiate the renovation.

During an inspection on Monday, the State Youth Commander expressed his commitment to the project, attributing it to his advocacy for the 'Think-Home' philosophy in Anambra State. He emphasized the importance of individuals investing in their hometowns, stating, "This 'Akuluo uno' (think-home) initiative is a campaign I have been championing even before the advent of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration.
Hon. Chukwunwendu sees the renovation project not only as a means of addressing infrastructural decay but also as a way of giving back to society and strengthening the Students’ Union in the University. He praised the progress made by the contractor and assured the completion of the project.
