According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, whose identities remain undisclosed, infiltrated the university campus under the cover of darkness. They entered three lecture halls and indiscriminately fired shots into the air, trapping students inside. The sudden onslaught left students terrified as they scrambled for safety, with some managing to flee into nearby bushes to evade capture.
The swift response from local security guards and the university's security personnel prevented further chaos, though the gunmen had already abducted several students by the time they were engaged. The incident occurred just days before the commencement of the first semester examinations, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 13, leaving the university community in a state of shock and disbelief.
One student, who requested anonymity, recounted the ordeal of hiding in the bushes for over an hour until the area quieted down.
