Research has shown that over-involved parents have negative effects on university students. Over-involved parents can contribute to higher levels of depression, stress, and a decreased ability to regulate emotions in young people.

While parents' intentions are often rooted in love and concern, it is essential to create a balance between support and allowing children to learn from their experiences. Encouraging independence and resilience prepares them for successful lives beyond the university years.
