In anticipation of the imminent opening of a new hostel facility commissioned to address student accommodation challenges, the Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has issued a stern warning against any form of hostel racketeering.

Comr. Akogwu Harrison Ojochebe, the Director of Welfare of the SUG, emphasized the importance of maintaining fairness and transparency in the allocation of hostel spaces. "Our priority is the welfare of every student at UNN," Comr. Ojochebe affirmed. "Any student found guilty of hostel racketeering will face severe consequences in line with university regulations."

The announcement comes amidst growing concerns over extortion and unfair practices in the allocation of hostel accommodations. With the impending availability of the new hostel, there is a heightened need to ensure that all students have equal access to accommodation facilities.

"We urge all lions and lionesses of UNN to remain calm as we prepare to open the doors of the new hostel," Comr. Ojochebe continued. "We are committed to providing a conducive living environment for all students, and we will not tolerate any form of exploitation or misconduct."
