WCCI Local Organizing Committee Pays Courtesy Visit to UNICROSS Vice Chancellor

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI) has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, at her office in Calabar.

Speaking during the visit, the LOC Chairman, Prof. Benedette U. Cornelius-Ukpepi, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to solicit UNICROSS’s participation in the forthcoming WCCI Conference scheduled to hold in Calabar from October 15 to 18, 2025. She noted that the Vice Chancellor has been named Co-Host of the international event and emphasized that the institution is expected to contribute significantly, particularly in financial commitments, to ensure its success.

In her response, the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Stella-Maris Okey, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended their initiative. Prof. Okey, who recalled her past involvement with WCCI, underscored the importance of the Council and assured the LOC of UNICROSS’s willingness to actively participate. She pledged to brief the Vice Chancellor about the discussions and expressed confidence that the university community would ensure a successful outing.

The visit was also attended by Dr. Moses Ewa of the Department of Educational Foundation, UNICROSS; Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Edu, Secretary, University of Calabar; and Dr. Charity Uhsie, Financial Secretary, University of Calabar, among others.

The highpoint of the occasion was the signing of the visitors’ book and a group photograph.
