Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) has instituted a new policy requiring students to achieve a minimum of 75% class attendance to qualify for semester examinations. This directive was communicated through a memorandum from the Office of the Deputy Rector (Academics), dated June 5, 2024.
The memorandum, referenced as AD/DR/ACAD/24/38, underscores the college management's commitment to enhancing academic discipline and student engagement. It mandates all Heads of Departments (HODs) to compile and submit attendance lists to the Director of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) by the end of the 12th week of lectures. This process will determine students' eligibility to sit for examinations based on their attendance records.
In a statement issued by Igri U. F., Acting Registrar on behalf of the Deputy Rector (Academics), the policy aims to foster greater academic commitment among students. It emphasizes the importance of regular attendance as a fundamental requirement for academic success at Yabatech.
