Yakubu Gowon University Vice-Chancellor Commences Two-Day Campus-Wide Tour

Professor Hakeem B. Fawehinmi, the Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly, University of Abuja), has commenced a comprehensive two-day tour of the institution's faculties, colleges, institutes, and centres. The official visit began on Monday, January 19th, 2026, and concludes today, Tuesday, January 20th, 2026.

The Vice-Chancellor's tour is aimed at engaging with different departments across both the Main Campus and the Mini Campus in Gwagwalada. The schedule, as outlined in a memo released by Dr. Idoko Michael, Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor's Office, is structured as follows:

Day 1: Monday, January 19th, 2026 (Main Campus)

The first day's visits focused primarily on the Main Campus, covering a range of scientific, legal, arts, and health-related faculties:

Morning Sessions: Included the Faculty of Science, University Library, Faculties of Law, Arts, Education, and the Institute of Education.

Afternoon Sessions: Covered the Faculties of Social Science, Management Science, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, College of Health Science, University Health Center, and the Faculty of Agriculture.

Day 2: Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 (Main Campus & Mini Campus)

Today's agenda includes more specialized faculties on the Main Campus before shifting focus to the Gwagwalada Mini-Campus facilities:

Main Campus Visits: Scheduled stops at the Faculties of Pharmacy, Environmental Science, and Communication and Media Studies.

Mini-Campus (Gwagwalada): Includes the Faculties of Nursing and Geography, along with the School of Basic and Remedial Studies and the GST Unit.

All Provosts, Deans of Faculties, and Directors of Institutes were requested to be guided by the schedule for the successful conduct of the tours.
