Governor Alex Otti has announced groundbreaking reforms aimed at addressing staff shortages and enhancing the teaching profession. Speaking to the citizens of Abia, Governor Otti revealed key initiatives designed to transform the state's educational landscape and ensure that students receive the highest standard of instruction.

One of the pivotal measures highlighted by Governor Otti is the commissioning of a comprehensive audit to assess the staffing requirements of primary and secondary schools across the state.

"We recently commissioned a full audit to determine the staff needs of our primary and secondary schools. By the time the audit is completed, it would be easy to identify areas of critical needs, particularly in Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)."

Armed with this data, the state government will be better equipped to address staffing shortages and ensure that schools have the necessary personnel to deliver quality education.

Furthermore, Governor Otti revealed plans to recruit graduates with the requisite qualifications to fill teaching positions within the state's educational institutions, "When we have our data sent in and carefully considered, we shall open the door to bring in graduates with requisite qualifications to join the employ of the State Government as teachers."

In addition to addressing staffing needs, Governor Otti announced measures aimed at making the teaching profession more attractive and rewarding. One such initiative is the raising of the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65, providing educators with the opportunity to continue contributing to the education system for an extended period.
