Abuabakar Tafawa Balewa University Branch of ASUU Holds Town Hall Meeting

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) branch, held a town hall meeting yesterday at the KSLT Yelwa Campus, commencing at 9:00 a.m.

In attendance were the President of the Students' Union Government (SUG), Executive members, Parliamentarians, and leaders of State Students' Associations. The meeting aimed to engage stakeholders in discussions on the current state of public universities in Nigeria, ASUU's efforts to improve education, and gather feedback from stakeholders.

The town hall meeting is a directive from the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Bayelsa State, hosted by Niger Delta University, to sensitize the public on the current situation of public universities and get feedback from stakeholders.

The ASUU ATBU Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Inuwa, emphasized the need for stakeholders to understand the union's stance in the struggle, which focuses on creating a conducive environment for learning in all public universities in the country.

The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to comprehend the challenges faced by ASUU members and the impact on their lives. The town hall meeting is part of a series of meetings across zones, culminating in a final gathering of ASUU NEC to consolidate views and opinions and find a lasting solution to the crisis in the tertiary education sector.
