ATBU Mandates NDLEA Drug Integrity Test for All Students

In compliance with a Federal Government directive aimed at curbing drug abuse in tertiary institutions, the management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has introduced a compulsory National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Drug Integrity Test for both new and returning students.

The directive was officially communicated via a memo signed by Haj. Hadeeza Ibrahim Mailafia, Deputy Registrar (Academics), on December 12, 2025. This policy makes the submission of a negative drug test result an essential part of the academic registration process.

All students must follow these mandatory steps to validate their registration for the upcoming academic session:

Visit the NDLEA Portal: Students are required to visit the dedicated NDLEA online portal at drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng.

Registration and Appointment: The portal allows students to register their details, select a convenient location and participating laboratory, and schedule their drug test appointment.

Receive Certificate: Test notifications and certificates will be issued digitally through the NDLEA platform.

Upload to University Portal: A soft copy of the NDLEA certificate must be uploaded to the student’s university portal for their registration to be considered valid.

The university administration urges all affected students to comply promptly with this new requirement to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted academic registration process.
