ATBU Students' Union Enforces New Transport Fare Regulations on Campus

The Students' Union Government (SUG) Ad-hoc Sales Committee at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has officially implemented a strict new price regulation system for transport services within and around the campus environment.

Following extensive negotiations with the ATBU Transport Union leadership, all bike (Achaba/Okada) and tricycle (Keke) operators are now mandated to adhere to the standardized fares outlined in a memo dated January 20, 2026.

The move, aimed at curbing overcharging and ensuring fair pricing for students, includes the following approved fares:

Yelwa Gate to anywhere within the campus: ₦100

Gubi Gate to Bus Stop, Faculty of Agriculture and Education: ₦100

Gubi Gate to Management, Science & Central Market: ₦150

Gubi Gate to Hostel: ₦200

Hostel to Management Sciences and Faculty of Science: ₦200

Gubi Hostel to Bus Stop: ₦150

Keke (Tricycle) Fares

Awala to Gubi campus: ₦500

Gubi Gate to Hostel: ₦150

The SUG has established a clear reporting mechanism for any violations. Affected persons who are overcharged for transportation or luggage are advised to immediately forward their complaints, along with concrete evidence, via WhatsApp to the designated officials: 08147504186 and 07061901906.

The statement was signed by Senator Usman Isah, Secretary, and Comrade Abdulhafeez Yusuf, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Sales Committee, reinforcing the union's commitment to student welfare and fair pricing.
