Babcock University will confer an honorary degree of Doctor of Law and Administration on Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, during its 17th convocation ceremony on July 28, 2024.

Babcock University has announced plans to confer an honorary degree of Doctor of Law and Administration on Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the newly inaugurated Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

In a letter addressed to Chief Olanipekun, Professor Ademola Tayo, President and Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, highlighted Olanipekun's significant contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria as the basis for this prestigious honor. Professor Tayo praised Olanipekun’s expertise and dedication, noting that his exemplary application of legal principles has made him an inspiration to law graduates.

The honorary degree will be awarded during Babcock University's 17th convocation ceremony on July 28, 2024. Chief Olanipekun has also been selected to deliver the convocation lecture, an event that will be attended by graduates, parents, guardians, government officials, and the general public.

The Vice Chancellor’s letter reads in part: “Upon the recommendation of the Board of Trustees, and by the authority of the Governing Council and Senate of Babcock University, I am delighted to convey to you the decision of the University to confer on you the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Law and Administration. The decision to confer on you this award is in recognition of your lifetime of extraordinary achievements in the legal profession, high intellectual profundity, and deep understanding of the applicability of the principles of law.”
