Bauchi State Approves N396m for NECO, WAEC Registration
Unlike previous years where payment for external examinations often faced delays or relied on borrowed funds, Governor Bala Mohammed has ensured that these funds are allocated upfront. Additionally, the state government has cleared over 800 million naira in debts accumulated by previous administrations for examination fees since 2020.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has given the green light for the allocation of N396,963,000 towards the registration of final year secondary school students for various external examinations, including NECO, WAEC, JAMB, and NBAIS.
According to the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru, this financial support will specifically benefit less privileged students in public schools across the state for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Dr. Dahiru emphasized that Governor Bala's decision reflects a commitment to promoting educational excellence and alleviating financial burdens on students and parents, particularly amidst challenging economic conditions.

In a strategic move to incentivize academic excellence, Governor Mohammed has also pledged to cover the JAMB examination fees amounting to N9,560,400 for 1,542 students who achieved outstanding performance during the aptitude test, earning an impressive A grade. This initiative aims to inspire other students to strive for academic excellence and reinforces the government's commitment to fostering a culture of meritocracy in education.
Dr. Dahiru noted that the funds allocated for external examinations in the current academic session represent a significant increase of about 59.98% from the previous year and approximately 26.58% from the preceding academic session.
