BUK Introduces New Regulations for Tricycle Operations on New Campus

The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University Kano (BUK) has released new rules governing tricycle (Keke) operations on the New Campus, effective from 9th January 2026.
The directives, signed by the Dean, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, and endorsed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, aim to ensure orderly, safe, and fair transport services for students.
Key highlights of the regulations include:

- Fixed Fare: A uniform fare of One Hundred Naira (₦100) applies for trips from the Main Gate to any authorized destination within the campus.
- Passenger Rights: Operators must convey students to any legitimate campus location without restricting routes.
- Queue Limitations: Only a maximum of five (5) TETFund tricycles are permitted to queue for passengers in front of Ramat Hall at any time.
- Passenger Capacity: Tricycles may carry up to five (5) passengers. Trips departing from the Main Gate require at least three (3) passengers, except in emergency situations.
- Drop Trips: Operators may travel without passengers only when none are available. If a single passenger is present, travel requires the passenger’s consent or participation in a shared ride.
- Compliance: All tricycle operators must adhere strictly to university traffic and safety regulations.
- Student Conduct: Students are prohibited from engaging in verbal or physical altercations with operators; all complaints must be submitted through official channels.
