COREN Praises UNIDEL for Practical Engineering Education and State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has commended the Management of University of Delta, Agbor, for the engagement of students in solving complex engineering problems and the provision of state-of-the-art equipment for practical teaching and learning.

The team lead of the Council, Engr. Dr. Felicia Agubata gave the commendation at the exit brief, after a resource verification exercise in the Faculty of Engineering, UNIDEL.

Engr. Dr. Agubata who expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the entire University Management for the warm reception and hospitalities extended to her team, remarked that she was impressed by the eco-friendly environment for learning, availability of standard lecture rooms, workshops and laboratories, as well as proper documentation of staff and students records.

She recommended a sustainable system that should be instituted to preserve and continually enhance the strengths of the Faculty.

Some of the areas inspected by the Council included laboratories, workshops, lecture theatres, classrooms, the library, engineering drawing studio, students' hostels, recreational center and the medical center.They had extensive interaction with the academic, administrative, technical staff and students.

Earlier on a courtesy call, the Team Lead stated unequivocally that the verification of engineering programmes was a core responsibility of the COREN, as mandated by the Act establishing the Council. 

She posited that the resource verification was for partnership, and quality enhancement, aimed at strengthening and supporting institutions in achieving excellence, and not a fault-finding exercise.

The Council was received by the Principal Officers, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Director of Academic Planning and Heads of Departments in the Faculty.
