The Vice Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Engr. Professor Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu, has assured the public of efforts to safely retrieve students abducted during a recent kidnapping incident on campus.

In the wake of the recent kidnapping incident at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Kogi State, Nigeria, Vice Chancellor Engr. Professor Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu has assured the public that every effort is being made to safely retrieve the abducted students. The incident occurred on the night of May 9th, as students gathered for tutorials ahead of their First Semester Examinations, scheduled to commence on May 13th.

In a statement released on May 10th, Vice Chancellor Salawu stated, "We want to allay the fears of the public and also assure parents and guardians of our dear students that no stone will be left unturned till we have them back safely into our fold at CUSTECH." While the exact number of abducted students remains unconfirmed, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that measures are in place to address the situation.

Acknowledging the anxiety among parents and guardians, Vice Chancellor Salawu announced that lectures and examinations are postponed until further notice. However, he reassured those who choose to keep their wards on campus of their safety, stating that the situation is under control and proactive security measures are in place.

Immediate action was taken following the incident, with Kogi State Governor Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and State Security Adviser Cmdr. Jerry Omodara coordinating efforts to deploy security agencies for a rescue mission. Governor Ododo has directed that CUSTECH remain in session, affirming his commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted students.
