Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata of IMAP Emphasizes Importance of Quantity Surveying in Polytechnic Education
Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata emphasizes the essential role of quantity surveying and calls for stronger collaboration between industry and academia during a visit from the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveying (NIQS).
The Acting Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic (IMAP), Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, has underscored the critical role of quantity surveying in polytechnic education, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach between industry practice and academia.
During a visit from the state chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveying (NIQS) on Tuesday, Dr. Maifata highlighted the significance of professional training, research development, and human capital experiences in the field of quantity surveying. He reiterated the institution's commitment to creating a conducive environment for both teaching and learning, stressing that quantity surveying, alongside other engineering and technical courses, remains a priority for IMAP.
Dr. Maifata acknowledged the importance of synergy between academic institutions and professional bodies to ensure that graduates meet industry standards. He expressed enthusiasm for joint initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of surveying professionals and commended the NIQS for its willingness to collaborate with the institution.
In his remarks, QS. Ibrahim Mohammed Otaki, Chairman of the NIQS, affirmed the professional body’s readiness to support IMAP in strengthening its professional education and aligning students with international best practices. QS. Otaki praised the Polytechnic under Dr. Maifata’s leadership for advancing technical education and improving student expertise.
The meeting was attended by key figures including the Deputy Rector (Administration), Ahmad Jubrin Ibrahim; Deputy Rector (Academic), Louis John Ogah; Registrar, Zamani Habu Ibrahim; and the Bursar, Zainab Dalhatu.
