The Acting Provost of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Dr. Hisham Aliyu Mohammed, has called on staff of the institution to unite and work collectively towards institutional progress as the College prepares for its forthcoming National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Visit.

Dr. Mohammed made the appeal on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, during his maiden interactive meeting with staff held at the Senator Greg Ngaji Lecture Theatre. The meeting brought together Deans of Schools, Directors, Heads of Departments, and representatives of all four staff unions — COEASU, SSUCOEN, NASU, and NACETON.

In his address, the Acting Provost expressed gratitude to the 8th Governing Council, chaired by Hon. Ahmed Abdullahi, for the confidence reposed in him to lead the institution. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration, stressing that progress can only be achieved through teamwork and a shared sense of purpose.

He urged all members of staff to set aside personal or sectional interests and focus on the collective growth of the College, adding that his administration would prioritize inclusiveness and effective communication across all levels.

A key highlight of the meeting was the formal announcement of the upcoming NUC Accreditation Visit, slated to commence on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Dr. Mohammed described the exercise as a significant milestone in the College’s journey toward fully implementing its Dual Mandate, which empowers it to run both Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Degree programmes concurrently.

He charged Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments to intensify their preparations, ensure that all documentation and facilities meet the required standards, and project the College in the best possible light during the accreditation exercise.

The interactive session ended on a note of renewed commitment as staff members pledged their support to the Acting Provost’s vision for institutional growth and academic excellence.
