FUNAAB emerges as the best university of Agriculture in Africa and 7th globally according to the Latest Times Higher Education World University ranking for 2024.
In a significant achievement, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has secured the top position as the best University of Agriculture on the African continent and the 7th position globally according to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) for 2024. This prestigious ranking involved meticulous evaluation of 2,671 entries from 1,906 universities across 108 countries and regions.
The 2024 WUR utilized an updated methodology (3.0), incorporating 18 calibrated performance indicators to assess institutions in five key areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. Notably, FUNAAB had previously secured the 2nd position in Nigeria in the 2023 Sub-Saharan Africa University rankings and was recognized as the best public university in the country.
The credibility of the Times Higher Education Rankings, trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments, and industry experts, underscores the significance of this achievement. FUNAAB’s commitment to academic excellence and collaboration positions it as a leader in agricultural education and research. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, extended congratulations to the entire University community and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration for even greater accomplishments.
