First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Launches National Scholarship Programme, Grants Scholarships to 43 Tertiary Students
The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the National Scholarship Programme for Higher Education, accompanied by a heartwarming gesture of awarding scholarships to 43 students from various tertiary institutions across the nation. The scholarships were granted under her philanthropic initiative, the Renewed Hope Initiative.
A statement released on Saturday by her media assistant, Busola Kukoyi, revealed that the scholarship beneficiaries consisted of students nominated by distinguished women's societies. Notably, the National Council for Women Societies and the Defence Staff and Police Officers Wives Association played a pivotal role in nominating some of the recipients. Additionally, a selection process spanned the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
"The Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (#SenRemiTinubu) today gave scholarship grants to 43 students of state and federal tertiary institutions from all the states of the Federation, the FCT, and nominees from some other women associations," the statement announced.
Each of the beneficiaries will receive a scholarship grant of One million Naira annually for four years, along with a brand new laptop. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden of higher education and empower these students to excel in their academic pursuits.
Notable figures present at the event included Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and Dr. Mariya Mahmood, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory.
The launch of the National Scholarship Programme and the benevolent scholarships extended by the First Lady underscore the commitment towards fostering education, empowering the youth, and nurturing a brighter future for Nigeria.
